travel_advisory [ uepianogirl ]	7:51a	Change of Plans Our trip to New Orleans is beginning to look more and more like it's not going to happen, thanks to Gustav. We haven't cancelled anything yet, because we are waiting to hear what it does when it hits the Gulf, but I am/will be so disappointed. We are trying to find a comparable place to visit (even though nothing compares, I'm sure!). It has to be driveable distance from Evansville, IN (10 hours or so) and somewhere not too expensive. We were going to get away with probably $1500 in New Orleans because we had a really good deal at a cute little hotel right in the middle of the French Quarter. Anyway, the short story is that we're looking for a different place to go. We're thinking Savannah....if anyone has any other ideas, let me know!!  And if anyone has any tips on Savannah and what to do (day trips, attractions, things to do), please let me know! We have about 2 more days to plan a trip there...

off_highstreet [ littleminds ]	12:52p	Buying something special I've decided to sell a piece of my Mom's jewellery for around £100, because it is something I wouldn't ever wear, don't really feel it connects me to her, etc. But I want to spend the £100 on something special. Jewellery is out as I have plenty items with lots of sentimentality. I'd love to spend it on MAC but I don't really think that is special enough. So any ideas?

I want them to be flat (I'm bad in heels), and round-toed, or at least no pointy toes. The problem is all the ones I see are stiletto heel and pointy (boo), but I'm not into that. Any ideas where I can find some? I've googled and gone to all the sites I cna think of, to no avail (apart from designer sites, but £ is, as ever, limited). Thanks!

adamfizz	12:22a	first reading, now writing OK, so the short version of my weekend, with the long version possibly to follow tomorrow or Friday. Number of bands seen: 30, although about ten of those were only for one song or in passing Best band of the weekend: It's a five way tie, but my gut tells me Blood Red Shoes. Los Campesinos!, Bloc Party, The Cribs and The Last Shadow Puppets were close though. Worst band of the weekend: Mindless Self Indulgence. I didn't really mean to watch them, and I definitely wouldn't have done if Sunday hadn't gone to shit lineup wise, but they were just teenage goth posing. I'm sure in their minds they were Marilyn Manson, or NIN, or someone, but they just came off as dickheads. Also, Mystery Jets were pretty balls. Best food: The falafel I had on Sunday. Yum. Comedy moment of the weekend: Seeing a swan fall on its face while being chased by a dog. Enough said. Disappointment of the weekend: Finding out that the lyrics to Buck Rogers aren't "from a lemon", but "from eleven". Although Darren then went home and checked the lyric book and apparently it is lemon, so no worries. Money spent: £100 New friends made: Facebook tells me six so far. All from Bristol too, so new drinking buddies I hope. Number of shoes lost while crowdsurfing to the Cribs: One. But it's OK, because... Number of shoes miraculously found after crowdsurfing to the Cribs: One! What are the odds? There's the quick facts, photos are on my Facebook, I might write more soon. No promises though. Current Music: thrice (a new discovery last weekend)

I'm in London if anyone knows any specific shops. I had a look today but can only find european/US ones that say they work in 'some' parts of China which is far too vague for my liking.

off_highstreet [ suspieria ]	10:28p	soooo, what music are you listening to? reccomend me some albums to check out. i love everything a bit poppy/r&b/hip-hop and also love anything innovative and weird (so most chart music!). my favourite band are the smiths but mostly i hate stuff that isn't very contemporary (i loathe u2, duran duran, the cure etc.) at the moment i've been listening to jay z, chris brown, britney spears, rihanna and so on.
